Green Spring Gardens Family Session –

Last time I saw the Vasey family, we met at Dumbarton Oaks in DC for a family session. Rachel was pregnant with their second at the time, so I had not seen them in-person as a family of four until this shoot!

We decided on an early morning at Green Spring Gardens in Alexandria, Virginia for their Fall portraits this year. Green Springs is one of my favorite locations for shooting at any time of year, but especially in the Fall. As you scroll through their photos, you’ll see why. The vibrant yellows, reds and oranges here are unbelievable!

Talia and Alistair were both so smiley during our time together. Talia is the fastest little runner and Alistair is beginning to crawl all on his own. He is so fast already! Both of them have the biggest blue eyes. They’re so cute. We had fun switching between snuggly blanket shots, running and dancing around in the grass, and seeing what animals we could find in the garden’s small duck pond.

We pretty much had the entire garden to ourselves, minus a few early morning walkers, so we had ample backdrops to choose from. I love the spot we chose for their full family portraits – a little shady patch with fall foliage blurred in the background and a gnarly oak tree just down the hill providing some fun texture to the shots.
