I met Aly & Justin for a sunset engagement session at the Manassas Battlefield this past summer.
Aly and I have known each other for a few years now. We were both at James Madison University at the same time and she was in the same sorority as my good friend, Tina. The last time I saw Aly, I was actually taking their senior portraits on the Quad! So fun!
The light we had the night of their session was magical! It was the perfect summer evening.
Aly & Justin were coordinated from head to toe. I LOVED Aly’s navy blue dress with its simple but bold pattern and Justin’s brown leather accents. We started our session at the stone bridge and ended in the fields near the visitor’s center for some amazing sweeping overlook shots. I had so much fun hearing about their Pittsburg proposal, Justin’s job and telling them about my upcoming plans for the Camino…time flies!
I feel lucky to have the battlefield so close to home. There is so much variety in its backdrops, every shoot feels different. It really allows me to cater to the vision of each client for their session. My family and I do a lot of hiking here, but I also have at least 3-5 photo sessions here a year, so I know it well. Funny enough, we actually saw my husband running the trails during Aly & Justin’s session!
These two get married this year and I am so excited for them! Take a look below for some serious golden hour magic and some of my most beautiful engagement photos to date! Thank you Aly & Justin, it was so nice spending time with you!

Beautiful pics. Where in the battlefield are these stone walls ? Thanks
If you type in “Stone Bridge Parking Lot” into your Google Maps, it comes right up! At the edge of the battlefield, right next to The Winery at Bull Run! 🙂
