What a beautiful evening we had!

John & Emily asked me to be a part of their proposal at the Lincoln Memorial last night. The fog was thicker than I had ever seen it on the mall – standing in the front of the memorial looking out over the reflection pond, only a grey clouded mass stood where the Washington Monument should have been. Even the lights at the top and highlighting the base couldn’t be seen. It was by far the hardest conditions I’ve ever had to photograph in so far.

But we persevered. The proposal was beautiful and full of tearful emotion, and the Hotel Washington could not have been a more scenic spot to celebrate afterward. The family was a joy to work with throughout the entire evening, and I had such a good time.

A warm congratulations to John & Emily! I hope these photos can be a reminder of this special evening for years to come!
