Fall Occoquan Wedding – Rachel & Brian

I had a blast photographing Rachel & Brian’s wedding in historic Occoquan this fall! As crazy as it sounds, I didn’t meet either of them in person until the the day of their wedding!

When Rachel asked me to be their wedding photographer, she told me we had been at James Madison University at the same time and she had actually lived with my long-time high school girl friend (duuukkkkessss!). I learned that her and Brian met after JMU in South Carolina. Their first date involved a freak rain storm and a Hawaiian t-shirt, and the crazy combo must have worked because from there, they started a life together and moved from South Carolina to California to Ohio – all happening right around the time of the wedding!

Rachel and her bridesmaids got ready in a gorgeous downtown Occoquan AirBnB, and her and Brian had their first look on a bridge overlooking the river. They had their ceremony at the Semper Fidelis Memorial Chapel and reception at the Lorton Workhouse Arts Center. Every detail was so elegant – the chapel with its floor-to-ceiling windows; the crimson bridesmaid dresses that perfectly complimented the blustery fall day; Rachel’s flawless dress and long flowing veil; their unique cocktail hour held in an art-gallery-turned-reception-space.

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Gehlbach! I loved going back through these photos – you were surrounded by so much love that day, it was such a pleasure getting to meet all of the most important people in your life. And your wedding party had THE BEST entrances I have ever seen!!!
