I have become a huge fan of ice-cream and chocolate bribery this year.
No matter the age or task at hand, promise any child either of these and they will show off their toothiest-grins for the entire span of a session until ice-cream is dripping off of their chin. It’s a photographer’s dream, especially when a shoot includes four young children.
I have known Alexis for forever – literally – so when she asked if I could come down for a family session with her and her family of six, I couldn’t have been more excited. We chose downtown Fredericksburg as our location (beautiful bricked sidewalks, stone arched doorways, also the location of their engagement and wedding photos) and ended the day, as all good days end, with ice-cream. We went to Carl’s, infamous in Fredericksburg and has a wrap-around line at all hours of the afternoon.
We had a perfect sunny spring day with the kids. They were so happy and just cracking me up. Ella, the oldest, was so good at keeping track of her younger siblings and lead by example showing off her big smile for the camera. Little Veda was full of energy, and her big blue eyes were inquisitively looking around at everything passing by. The twins, Rocco and Gino, are at the age where they have something funny to say about everything and are full of questions. They’d reach for my hand as we crossed the street and kept forgetting my name so I would get “Who is you? Who is you again?” from both of them throughout the day. They got a kick out of asking if we were taking more “picture-photos” at each new location we walked to. So much cuteness.
So, of course, I have to share some of my favorite snaps from such a fun evening.
Thanks again Alexis and Joe! Can’t wait for next time!
