Manassas Battlefield Family Session –
If you’ve been to the Battlefield in the Fall, you know what I’m talking about when I say it is a special kind of crazy. Hoards of people come from all over the DMV to catch a glimpse of the fall foliage here. Many visitors come to take their own family portraits to use for their holiday cards.
So, in that sense, me and the Burns family got lucky the evening we had our shoot. It was freezing (FREEZING!) cold, so were the only ones in the park for miles!
Besides the lack of crowds, the cold also gave us some gorgeously crisp images. I love how their green and pink color palette was complimented by the soft yellows and greens in the woods behind them. The sun hit at the perfect height to give us that beautiful glow on top of the trees and soft shine in the grass.
It is always so good to see the Burns family. I met them at the lavender farm during my very first season of shooting back in 2016. At that time, Jessie’s youngest was so little she was held for the entire shoot! Both girls have grown up so much since then!
For a look at how young the girls were in our first shoot, you can see a couple of their family photos in our 2016 lavender season blog post here. Wow, have things changed!
