Cox Farms Smokin’ Saturdays –
These photos bring me back to summertime!
I visited Cox Farms on a beautiful puffy cloud day last year to photograph their Smokin’ Saturdays. Never heard of it? Smokin’ Saturdays are Saturdays in the Spring and Summer when the farm is full of yummy smells and extra fun.
Along with their annual Summer produce stand and flower display, the kitchen is operational preparing favorites like fresh-squeezed lemonade, donuts and BBQ sandwiches to eat alongside cartons of blackberries and juicy donut peaches. You can visit with their farm animals (including the infamous llama, Chewy) climb on trains and eat sprinkle-topped ice-cream. It is easy to spend an entire afternoon here playing yard games, going on hayrides to Foam Henge and partaking in farm-related demonstrations. The weekend I visited, Eric and Lucas Cox were on-site doing a tomato canning demonstration for customers.
You know I am a believer in shopping small and supporting local. Cox Farms has perfected this by creating an enjoyable warm-weather outing centered around kid-friendly activities and unbeatable produce.
If these photos don’t persuade you, I personally and highly recommend visiting during Smokin’ Saturdays this upcoming Spring and Summer. Such a fun way to spend the warm afternoon…and only a couple of months away!
