What a gorgeous end to the year!

Mackenzie & Nick’s sunny bayside wedding was held at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club this past December.

Mackenzie & Nick met during college at JMU. I also met Mackenzie at JMU, we spent many weekends together hanging out in the same group of friends. We hadn’t seen each other in years, so when she asked me to document their wedding day, I was so excited!

They wanted a low-key day focused on family and friends, and that is exactly what they had.

Both of them were so relaxed and there was such a simplistic elegance to every detail – the venue nestled into the shoreline, the use of dramatic white space and bold script font on their invitations, Mackenzie’s AMAZING dress (with pockets!) and hints of greenery in all the right places. My favorite detail was a small heart sewn onto the inside of her dress made out of pieces of both her mother and grandmother’s wedding dresses.

They had a cozy ceremony in the breezeway of the venue followed by cocktail hour at the beachside bar. We took cozy sunset photos out by the water. It was so warm out, Mackenzie didn’t even need a jacket! All the better to show off those pockets! They ended the night dancing in a ballroom that echoed with live music. Walls of windows lined showcased the sunset and lapping water as the last remaining light disappeared behind the Bay Bridge just beyond the venue.

As I packed up to leave, Boardwalk fries were brought out by the traysful. It was such a fun ending to the night and fit perfectly with their bayside theme.

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Janowicz! Thank you so much for choosing me to be part of your special day. I loved meeting your family and catching up with old friends. Hope to see you both again soon! 🙂
